Cresson Crossroads

The Town Center is referred to as Cattleman’s Square.  The original City of Cresson played an important role in the early Texas cattle business.  For many years, it was the location for several banks where cattle-trading transactions took place before the livestock were herded to the Stockyards in Fort Worth.  Thus, the architecture of Cattleman’s Square will be inspired by the early stone structures in Cresson and the Spanish Mission style in the Fort Worth Stockyards.

Cresson Crossroads is being designed to take advantage of land-use concepts often referred to as Traditional Neighborhood Design (TNDs).  Our neighborhoods and town center will utilize patterns of commercial real estate development found in older sections of cities throughout the country.  In its simplest form, a TND might be defined as a pedestrian-friendly development where people can become less dependent on automobiles.  By strategically locating residential and commercial zones within walking distance of one another, the overall area begins to emphasis people instead of cars.

Imagine a new town where you can live in a neighborhood with sidewalks, parks, and playgrounds.  Where the town center, with shops, offices, and restaurants is within an easy 10 minute stroll.  Perhaps, you might even walk to your workplace located in a “live/work” building atCattleman’s Square or the adjacent commercial park.

Our neighborhoods will be characterized by a diversity of housing styles and sizes, strong neighborhood identity, and a true sense of place.  Contrary to most current “cookie-cutter” subdivisions,  you’ll find homes inspired by local architectural traditions and details.  Rather than the typical strategy ofsegregating homes by size and price range, our neighborhoods will be like the desirable older neighborhoods built in the early 1900s where there was a delightful mix of small cottages and larger, more stately homes.
